What is mulched drip irrigation? What are the characteristics?
Film mulching drip irrigation, also known as subsurface drip irrigation, is a new field irrigation method that combines the drip irrigation technology mentioned earlier with mulching planting technology. The difference from drip irrigation technology is that crops grow under a layer of plastic film, and then drip irrigation systems are used. According to the needs of crop growth and development, local water-saving irrigation is carried out drop by drop around the crop roots. Fertilizer is directly delivered to the crop roots with the drip irrigation water flow, which is easily absorbed by the crop roots.
After covering the ground surface with film, it can greatly reduce the evaporation of water from the ground into the air, while avoiding the infiltration of surface water into the deep soil or forming small rivers on the ground surface, which can directly transport water to plants. This approach can better save water resources, improve water utilization efficiency, increase yield, save time and effort, and reduce costs. At present, this technology has been widely promoted and applied in most parts of northwest China. Xinjiang cotton planting has adopted this technology with significant results, and provinces such as Hainan, Liaoning, and Heilongjiang have also begun to promote it。
